After a long investigation, I have been able to confirm that a myth (another one) repeated a thousand times becomes true. Isaac Lindo is not Lorenzo Rodriguez Lindo. A story that resonated from the first moment I read it was about the identity of a leading character within the Sephardic community of London, which connected him to a story with certain dubious arguments, due to the lack of sources t...
Once upon a time, a man named ***"I. I. Naar"*** appear in a little town called **Upata**, deep jungle at the southeast in Venezuela, to **1897** and he married with a woman named Carmen Alcalá. He does not renounce his Hebrew faith but accepts that his children be baptized.
Hello! Someone knows records for Brit-mila in Suriname to 1724/1735?
It’s surprising to find matches and understand were they came from, but is more fantastic when you are match with the authors of one of their books! Who can be our common ancestor?
By surprise when there are no more treasures to get, the faces of the past appear again and this time to clarify and bring controversy about who is who in the family. Identifying our ancestors is not an easy task since we must review the source of the sources. Yesterday I received 2 portraits that are in a warm corner of a home in Maturín, a city in eastern Venezuela where many descendants of the ...
There are controversial characters in the history of the Diaspora. In this case it is Lourenço or rather Isaac Lindo. I have debated the sources and the evolution of this very important figure in the founding of the Jewish community in London and also in the relationship with his relatives from whom I am directly descended and who arrived in Caracas Venezuela, being very prominent Catholics at tha...
This is my humble review about one of the most important books made ever for genealogist and descendants. It's complete in spanish. Hope you like it if you understand the language. Thanks for your comments, sharing and likes.
Hello! If someone is interested in this books let me know. Both are new.
Article about the itinerant mohel in the Caribbean, **Moisés Frois Ricardo** in Maguen magazine, Venezuela. His circumcisions are spoken of as made like Mohel. I also attach one of the original pages of the book for your enjoyment. It is a wonderful booklet also with a unique value within the Jewish community of Venezuela. The article also talks about an acknowledgment made by the **Sálas Baïz** f...
in "Jewish History Atlas" (de Martin Gilbert)Very interesting the detailed numbers of Jews.(This was posted in other Jewish group)
The past weekend I visited the old jewish quarter in the medieval town called Besalú, in the north of Catalonia, Spain. This is part of the sephardic heritage from the XIII century. Part of a Mikve and Synagogue remains with beauty views and the river along the side of the walls. Enjoy the pictures.
This is the small Jewish cemetery that is in the city of Barcelona, Venezuela. It is a Sephardic cemetery where few people rest, no more than 20. Fortunately it is protected and here a sample of the maintenance carried out these days by a direct descendant, Dr. Adolfo Guzman, (descendant of Jacob Baïz and Leah Oliveira) of the families that rest there. Surnames such as Baïz, Curiel, Henriquez-Moro...
Does anyone have documented information or bibliography about these quotes from these families at that time? The oldest records we have in my family start from Livorno and we do not have a back link. This would be an interesting clue. Thank you!
Hello everyone!I would like to request some help about the family Baïz - My earliest ancestor is Jacob Baïz, born in Bayonne 1779 and he married with Lea Oliveiro Isidro. Does the surname Baïz have a relation with **Vaz** or **Vaez**? I'm wrong Michael Waas ? This is because I recently found a citation about the family **Baïz** in Curaçao for 3 Generations, and they're before this came from St. Th...
Hi! Can someone help me with this wedding? Eliazar Vais with Simcha BerSimon. Which is the relation of Eliazar with Abraham Salas? Thanks!
Good morning. In the first line I read Isaac Rodriguez Mendes van Toulouse, and the sign below I read Izaque R'' Mendez. It is the same person? Also, was David de Souza Britto the father of Ribca de Souza Brito?

Interesting video about the jewish legacy in the caribbean and also it's possible to purchase a beautiful photobook record with information about the all synagogues and more.
Today I've found this book that contents a lot of jews, conversos and cryptos, tried, punished and sentenced for Judaizing. The long list and each Order of Faith contains the name of the convicted. It is a book full of sad stories and sometimes, it breaks our hearts by such events that occurred in the second century of the Inquisition in the Balearic Islands. Many names will leave amazement, since...
I visited the underground ruins of the ancient city of Barcelona, Spain, from the 1st to 4th century. Anybody can visit this museum where a lot of antique builds has been remaked. Very close of this underground place is the Old Synagogue inside the Call (jewish quarter). During the visit it's possible to see amazing walls and mosaics. In one of the corridors it is possible to find stones with ins...
